The Poetry Foundation defines “erasure poetry,” or “blackout poetry,” as a type of poetic form where one “blacks out or, in some way, erases words from a pre-existing source to create a new poem.”
There are multiple types of erasure poetry: blackout, cross out, computer, cut out, covered up, and retyped.
